TOWN OF HUME
AUGUST 10, 2011
A
regular meeting of the Hume Town Board, Allegany County, New York was held at
the Town of Hume Museum, 10842 Claybed Road, Hume, New York on August 10,
2011. Supervisor Dennis Ricketts called
the meeting to order at 7:00 PM, and he led the Pledge of Allegiance to the
Flag.
Town
officials in attendance included: Supervisor Dennis Ricketts; Council members
Christopher Austin and Gregory McKurth; Attorney David Pullen; Highway
Superintendent Kevin Peet; and Clerk Sondra MacEwan. Councilmen Daniel Miller
and Bryce Bower were absent.
Councilman
Austin moved that the minutes of the July 13, 2011 meeting of the Hume Town
Board be accepted as presented. Councilman McKurth seconded. 3 ayes, 0 noes.
Eric
Beil addressed the Board. His dog was picked up by the Dog Control Officer and
taken to the kennel in Granger. Mr.Beil felt that the DCO was rude to him and
handled his dog too roughly.
The
Board asked Mr. Beil to file a written complaint so that a basis for discussion
was at hand for their discussion with the DCO. They said the DCO was allowed
“the professional courtesy” of having her version heard.
Allegany
County adopted the Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan on April 8th,
2011.
Councilman
McKurth moved that the Town of Hume adopt the plan, and Councilman Austin
seconded the motion. 3 ayes, 0 noes.
The
lack of a hazard mitigation plan has held up FEMA funding for the Town’s Cold
Creek grant.
Superintendent
Peet reported that his year’s planned Chip Sealing is done.
Councilman
Austin moved that the Highway Superintendent be authorized to advertise for
bids for a 2011 or newer tandem axle plow truck with side dump box, plow and
wing. Councilman McKurth seconded the motion. 3 ayes, 0 noes.
Supervisor
Ricketts moved that any Water & Sewer bill with amounts unpaid at the close
of business on September 9, 2011 be relevied to the property owner’s 2012 Town
and County tax bill. Councilman McKurth seconded. 3 ayes, 0 noes.
Councilman
Austin moved that the following list of transfers be authorized, and Councilman
McKurth seconded. 3 ayes, 0 noes.

Assessment
The
Supervisor asked the Clerk to prepare a report on the costs of the Summer
Recreation Program for the next meeting.
Clerk
Sondra MacEwan told the Board that Deputy Town Clerk Susan Bodnar submitted her
resignation. Ms. Bodnar has accepted a full time position elsewhere.
Some
schedule changes will need to be made, and office hours might be erratic for a
time. There are no plans to refill the position at this time.
A
Small Communities workshop will be held in October in Ellicottville, NY. Anyone
interested in attending should contact STW.
Councilman
Austin moved that the bills as audited be accepted for payment, and that the
reports of the Supervisor and Town Clerk be accepted as presented. Councilman
McKurth seconded the motion. 3 ayes, 0 noes.
