BUILDING INSPECTOR

As of January 1, 2000, the Town of Hume will be entering into a consortium with 5 other municipalities for Building Inspection and Code Enforcement. Previously, we have contracted with a private inspection company. The advantages for the Town in joining the consortium are:

1. A full time inspector in the area.

2. Town has control over the training of the inspector.

3. Reduced building permit cost (approximately 30% reduction.)

4. Better coordination between the building inspector and assessor's office.

5. Full time code enforcement officer to make sure permits are being obtained.

6. No additional cost to taxpayers for public building inspection with the potential of decreasing the cost in the future.

7. Control over building permit cost.
